The Mindy Project, the much-loved sitcom featuring comedian Mindy Kaling, has been canceled by Fox by after three seasons. Even more frustrating for fans is the fact that the show’s third season finale ended with a major cliffhanger related to the upcoming marriage of the main character.
All hope might not be lost for the show; The Mindy Project is produced by NBC Universal, which could theoretically move the show to another channel or streaming service like Hulu, also owned by NBC Universal.
Kaling, when interviewed immediately before the end of the third season, had not hinted or let on that the show was facing a possible cancellation, “I’m so proud of the show,” she said at the time. “There’s nothing really that I would do differently in the way that we’ve built the those in the last couple of years, and I love our relationship with Fox and I would love for it to just continue.”
