Add this to the list of cool things you never expected to see: glow-in-the-dark ice cream. 196 Below – an ice cream shop in Melbourne, Australia – has released the novel treat during the city’s White Night celebrations, in three flavors: pine-lime, mango-passion fruit, and raspberry. The dessert was instantly popular.
While it might look radioactive, the company assures customer that the ingredient which makes the dessert glow, fluorescein, is completely safe and edible. Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration agrees.
“We always try to think outside the box for each event we do,” says 196 Below co-owner Steve Felice. “For White Night, we wanted to play with people’s minds.”
